What Stake City is, how a payout is worked out, and what we will and will not open a market on. If anything here is ever unclear, the reading that favours the player is the one we will apply.
LAST UPDATED 25 SEPTEMBER 2026
THE RULE THAT SHAPES EVERY OTHER ONE

Stake City runs markets on Torn events and nothing else. Ranked wars, competitions, in-game milestones — things that happen inside Torn and can be checked inside Torn. We do not open markets on real-world sport, politics, or any other outside event, and we will not take a request to.

1What this site is

Stake City is a pari-mutuel market. Everybody who stakes on a question puts money into one pot, and when the answer is known that pot is divided among the people who were right. You are playing against the other players, never against the house.

That is the important difference from a casino, and it is not a wording trick. There is no house edge on a market, no odds we set, and no outcome we would rather see win. The only money the house puts in is the seed, which is named on the market itself and is paid out to whoever wins alongside everyone else's stake.

2Torn events only

Torn's rules allow betting between players on wars, competitions and other in-game activity. They do not allow betting on anything outside Torn. We follow that line exactly, and we would rather be boring about it than clever.

So: a market on this site always resolves from something Torn itself records. If you cannot check the answer in Torn, we should not have opened it — tell us and we will void it.

We will never open a market on real-world sport, real-world politics, anything happening outside Torn, or anything that depends on a private agreement between players rather than a result Torn publishes.

3How your payout is worked out

When a market resolves, the losing side's stakes and the house seed are added together, the rake is taken off, and what is left is split between the winning stakes in proportion to their weight. Winners also get their own stake back.

The percentages you see while a market is open are not a price. They show where the pot sits at that moment. Your payout is settled by the split at close, so it moves as other people stake, in both directions. Nothing you see before a market closes is a promise about what you will be paid.

A stake cannot be sold, cancelled or moved to another outcome once it is placed. Some markets hide the weights until a stated reveal time; when one does, the market says so before you stake.

The rake is 0% at launch and it is named on every market. If we ever change it, the number on the market changes with it and we will say so publicly first. We will never take a rake we have not named.

4Where a result comes from

Every market names its resolution source, and that source is the decision — not our opinion of what should have happened. For ranked wars this is Torn's own API.

One case worth stating plainly, because it surprises people: a war that ends by agreement still resolves to whoever Torn reports as the winner. We do not judge whether a war was fought out or termed. If a market ever depends on that difference, the market will say so in its own rules before you stake.

5When a market is voided

A void returns every stake in full, to the balance it came from. Nobody wins and nobody loses. We void when:

Two more happen on their own, with nobody deciding anything, and these are the ones people do not expect:

A ranked war market that Torn has still not reported a result for ten days after it should have finished is voided automatically. We would rather give the money back than leave it held indefinitely waiting on an API.

What a void does to the money, exactly:

  • Every stake goes back in full, to the balance it came from. Not a share, not a proportion — the number you staked.
  • No rake is taken. There is nothing to take it from.
  • The house seed goes back to the house. The seed is paid out to winners as part of the split; a void has no winners, so nobody is paid out of it and it is not divided up.
  • An early stake in a blind market is refunded at face value. The blind weight only ever decides how the winnings are shared, never what your stake is worth back. Staking early can never cost you money.
  • A void does not count against your record. On MY STAKES it nets zero and is left out of your win rate entirely, rather than counting as a market you got wrong.

We would rather void a market than settle one we cannot stand behind. Every void carries a written reason, we cannot record one without it, and it is shown on the market where anyone who staked can read it.

6You cannot stake on a result you can change

This is the one rule that betting on Torn events needs and a casino never did. If you are in a position to affect how an event turns out, that market is not for you.

Concretely, in a ranked war: if you are in one of the two factions, the only thing you may stake on is your own faction winning. You may not back the faction you are fighting, and you may not stake on someone else's behalf to get around that. If you were in both factions while the market was open, you cannot stake on it at all.

Backing your own side is allowed because it pays you for winning a war you are already in. Backing the other side is the one shape that would pay you for losing, and that is what this rule exists to refuse. The same test applies to any market where you are one of the people whose actions decide it.

Breaking this costs you the stake, the payout and the account. We will void the whole market if we have to, and we would rather refund everybody than pay out a result that was arranged.

7One account each

One Stake City account per Torn account. No second accounts, no staking through somebody else's, and no sharing a login. Multiple accounts in one market is treated as the same thing as rule 6 — it distorts a pot that other people are in.

8Money in and out

Your real balance is yours. Withdrawals are processed by hand from a queue rather than instantly, so allow time for one to be paid.

The daily gift and the signup gift are credited to your real balance and are yours on the same terms as anything else. There is no requirement to stake a gift a certain number of times before you can take it out; the mechanic that used to do that has been retired.

9Your name

You can hide your name from the weekly leaderboard and the high roller feed in your settings, and that choice is respected everywhere the site shows players off. It does not hide you from moderation, and it is not a way to get around rule 6 or rule 7.

10Comments

Market comments are for talking about the market. No harassment, no doxxing, no advertising, no scam attempts, and nothing that would get the post removed on Torn's own forums. A moderator can remove a comment or time an account out of commenting; a ban from commenting does not touch your balance or your open stakes.

11What we promise you

12The casino is closed

Stake City used to run 19 house games. Torn banned third-party casinos with effect from 1 October 2026, so they are gone, and they are not coming back in any form. The site is markets only.

Balances from that time are unaffected and your history is still on record, so an old dispute can still be answered.

These rules can change, and the version above is the one in force. Anything a market says in its own rules text overrides this page for that market — read it before you stake.

Questions, disputes, or a market you think should be voided: message the owner on Torn.
